Charles Hagen has written about art and photography for many publications, including Artforum, Afterimage, Aperture, and others. From 1991 to 1996 he was a critic for the New York Times, each week reviewing current art and photography exhibits. From 1990 to 1996 he was a staff reviewer for Artforum, writing one or two short reviews of exhibitions for each issue.
